SBC ANNUAL TROPHY WINNERS

Congratulations to Clare and John Snedden whose two boys Newlin Quick Step at Hardexspen JW (Lincoln) and Fallowfield Evolution at Hardexspen ShCM (Darwin), after a successful show season, ended 2019 by doing the double and winning SBC Beagle of the Year and the Craigmount Trophy. Having won both trophies in 2018 Darwin relinquished the Beagle of the Year title to the youngster Lincoln. The trophies are normally presented at our June championship show but this wasn’t possible this year. Luckily Clare and John already have the trophies!

May

With the cancellation of all dog shows since mid March due to the Covid-19 pandemic there hasn’t been any news to report.

The SBC held an Online Fun Dog Show over 7 days from 4th-10th May. The response was amazing with a total of 814 entries in the 7 classes! A huge thank you to Grace Purdie for judging.

Best in show was Gillian Wilson’s 16 year old Murphy from the Golden oldies class and Reserve Best in Show was Floyd Ando from the Best Action Shot class.

No Scottish beagles in the top awards this year but congratulations to Lorna Binks whose Tannahill Opal was Best Puppy Bitch at Crufts. Lorna had a very good day with Opal’s sister Orana being placed VHC in a large junior class and Ch Tannahill Kent 2nd in Open Dog. Other placed Scottish owned dogs were Newlin Rambler VHC PD, Dughalmorr I Am Legend 3rd JD and VHC MLD, Beighleigh Bilberry and Finmorlan Rufus 3rd and 4th PGD and Detrick Firefly over Divinebrae 2nd LB.

February

Jackie Fraser had a very successful day at Highland CA Limit Show on 9th February. To start the day 6 and a half month old Wyvisview Porcelain not only won her class, then BOB over her aunt Birdie but went on to take G1. Not to be outdone her litter brother Pinocchio won AV Special Hound Puppy and to Jackie’s delight topped it off by winning Special Best Puppy In Show. Hound and BIS judge was Ms E Collinson (Hogsmeade).

Lacey and Larry are homebred out of Wyvisview Bliss by Ch Davricard Harrison.

January

Only 17 days into the new year and we already have our first Scottish JW winner (subject to KC confirmation). Delighted owners’ Clare and John Snedden’s 15 month old Newlin Quick Step at Hardexspen aka Lincoln gained the final points required by winning junior and post graduate dog at Manchester Championship show judged by Mr Bill Browne-Cole.

A great start to the year for Liz Calikes’ 8 month old Newlin Revel who went BPIS at Paisley & DCS on 5th Jan courtesy of breed judge Rachel Cuthill, group judge David Craig and BIS judge Margaret Boulcott. This was Revel’s first show of 2020.

Thanks to Gregor Watson for the photo.

Congratulations to Ella Findlay who has qualified for the 2021 final of the SKC Junior Handler of the Year by winning at Bon Accord on 4th Jan, where, with the aid of Rhiconich Primrose, she was Best Junior Handler. This was Ella’s first show of the year and is a repeat of her 2019 win, the final of which will be held next month. Good luck Ella in the final!

Fiona Findlay also had a super day, not only winning best of breed with Primrose, but taking 3rd and 4th places too, making it almost a clean sweep for Rhiconich in the large class of 8 beagles.

Congratulations to Hilary Howatt who was the lucky winner and recipient of the SBC Christmas 2019 Hamper. Hilary was delighted to say the least.

Thank you to Fiona MacDonald for the lovely photo of Hilary with her prize and Emelia.
