April

April news starts with the results of the HOUND ASSOCIATION OF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held at the Scottish Events Campus, Glasgow on 11th April.

The judge was Mr Nigel Wright from Wales who had an entry of 36/46 fairly evenly split between 17/23 dogs and 19/23 bitches.

Lynda and Pam Havard’s Ch Annavah Justify was the winner of the DCC and the same owners’ Annavah Top Notch as BPIB. BCC & BOB was Kristen Theobald & Michael Butters’ Molesend Ibis of Breskar JW. The RDCC went to Luisa Fallon’s Molesend Jackpot JW who was also Best Special Beginner in Breed. RBCC went to Claire Jones’ Clairdale Galatea and the same owner’s Ch Newlin Preston to Clairdale JW was BVIB. Diane Bridgeman and Hugh Logue’s Kingswin Celeste was BJIB.

Beagles did well in the Best in Show ring, going RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW, 3RD BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW and BEST SPECIAL BEGINNER IN SHOW, all judged by Editha Newton.

NEW CHAMPION!

The second Champion of 2026 was crowned at HAS when Molesend Ibis of Breskar JW aka Hattie was awarded her 3rd CC and becomes Ch Molesend Ibis of Breskar JW (subject to RKC confirmation). Many congratulations!

Hattie is pictured below at HAS with her delighted owner Kristen Theobald.

Congratulations to her breeder Sam Goldberg who has bred two Champion litter sisters, Hattie’s sister being Ch Molesend Impish owned by Sam.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LUISA AND JACKPOT!

What a fantastic day it was for Luisa Fallon at HAS Champ show!

After winning Limit Dog and Special Beginners Dog Luisa’s Molesend Jackpot JW followed this up by being awarded the RDCC. This was extra special as it was Luisa’s first ever RCC.

The judge for beagles was Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale) and Mrs Sharon R Pinkerton (Bareve) judged Best in Show.

 

 

Huge well done to Susan Arden and Candi aka Annavah Star Above Madika AW(S).

At Agility Nuts show held at Walesby, Newark on 19th April Candi won her last Jumping Class in Grade 6 and now moves up to Grade 7. Candi is pictured proudly showing off her prize and rosette.

MORE CONGRATULATIONS TO LUISA AND JACKPOT!

Only one SBC member in the top awards at WELKS GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held at Malvern from 23rd to 26th April. Judge Mr David Roberts had a good entry of 82/93 beagles to judge on the first day of the show

David Craig’s Davricard Madonna was the winner of the RBCC and Davricard Astrid was BPIB. Astrid went on to win HPG2 judged by Mr Ed Casey.

MOLESEND JACKPOT JW

Congratulations to Luisa Fallon’s Molesend Jackpot JW who is the winner of The Scottish Beagle of the Year Challenge Trophy and the Craigmount Trophy, having accumulated the most points for his wins in 2025. Luisa was presented with the trophies at the recent AGM.

HOUND GROUP WINNER

Congratulations to Wendy Kilgour’s Gempeni Heartbeat of Kilmorbeag who is the first Scottish Hound Group winner of 2026. Eight month old Parker’s super win came at Drongan & DCS open show on Sunday 3rd May where he also won AV Hound Puppy. The judge was Beth Finlayson.

There was a very good entry of 97/117 beagles at BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW for judge Mr Jussi Liimatainen from Finland. The show was held at Staffordshire County Showground from the 7th to 10th May with hound judging taking place in lovely sunny weather on the first day.

The only SBC member in the top awards was David Craig whose Ch Davricard Bianca was the winner of the RBCC

After a 3 month wait Susan Arden has at last received confirmation of Candi’s Gold Agility Warrant which means she will now be Annavah Star Above Madika AW(G).

The SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB DOUBLE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS were held at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, Edinburgh from 14th to 17th May. Hounds were judged on the first day of the show.

At both shows SBC members swept the board taking all the main awards apart from RBCC at the second show.

Both well known “home-bred” judges are hound specialists and were awarding CCs in the breed for the first time.  Sharon Rossiter (Sonstraal) officiated at show 1 and Lesley McNaughton (Cedavoch) at show 2.

At SKC All Breeds Champ Show (show 1) the DCC & BOB was Serena Parker & Graham Stevens’ Ch Serenaker Armani, RDCC Lynda & Pam Havard’s Ch Annavah Justify, BCC David Craig’s Ch Davricard Bianca, RBCC Susan Arden’s Madika Shine On JW, BPD Nicky Stewart’s Dughallmor Iceman, BPB & BPIB the Havards’ Annavah Creme Caramel, BVIB Claire Jones’ Ch Newlin Preston to Clairdale JW, BSBIB Christine & Michael Hartland’s Molesend Hazelnut at Fairleedale.

At SKC General Champ Show (show 2) DCC, RDCC, BVIB and BPIB were a repeat of the first show. BCC was the BPIB winner A Creme Caramel, RBCC Clare Tanner’s Ch Felinoak Hennessy, BPD was Annavah Top Notch and BSBIB was Wendy Kilgour’s Gempeni Heartbeat.

CONGRATULATIONS TO WENDY AND PARKER!

Wendy Kilgour’s Gempeni Heartbeat was the only beagle from both SKC shows to be placed in any of the hound groups (Adult, Puppy, Veteran and Special Beginner).

It was a long day for Parker who is just under 9 months old. Having won BSBIB at the second show he then went into the Hound Special Beginner Group competition which was judged by Miss H Wayman. To owner Wendy’s delight Parker was awarded

Just 20 days after the first beagle Scottish Hound Group winner we now have the first Scottish beagle to win

BEST IN SHOW

The beagle who achieved this is three year old Tannahill Calissa owned by Anne Binks and handled by mum Lorna.

The show was Irvine & DCC Open Show where hounds and Best in Show were judged by Mr G Cunningham (Walamadengie). Calissa is pictured at SBC 2025 show.

BATH CANINE SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW took place in the middle of a heatwave over four days 22nd to 25th May. Hounds were judged on the final day which was the May Bank holiday. Sharon Hardisty (Blunderhall) was the judge awarding CCs for the first time. It was another successful day for Lynda and Pamela Havard who did the “double”. First was Ch Annavah Justify who won his 10th CC. Then Annavah Creme Caramel won her 2nd CC in the space of 11 days. She followed this up with BOB and BPIB. She later won HPG2 judged by Mrs Jill Peak (Bayard). David Craig’s Ch Davricard Bianca was the winner of the RBCC.

 The last weekend of May has been a busy one for news!

We start with SOUTHERN COUNTIES CANINE ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW which was held at Newbury Showground from 29th to 31st May. Hounds were on the first day and beagles were judged by Dr Annukka Paloheimo from Finland. Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Charming Boy was the recipient of the RDCC. The Havards’ Annavah Creme Caramel won her 3rd BCC just four days after her 2nd. She was BOB and BPIB. She went on to win the Hound Puppy Group judge by Kimmo Mustonen who is also from Finland.  AGILITY NEWS

Great results for two beagles on Saturday 30th May.  Pictured left is Luisa Fallon’s “Boss” who was at Avon DAC at Lanark. Not only did he come 3rd in the Scottish Agility Dog of the Year Qualifier, 2nd in G7 Agility and 1st in G7 jumping, he also gained the final points for his Agility Warrant Platinum (subject to RKC confirmation). A great achievement.

Pictured right is Susan Arden’s “Candi” who was at Longfield Agility show where she was competing in G7 having won out of G6 in April. Not only did she have all clear rounds but came 1st, 2 x 2nd, 3rd and 5th.

 A super weekend for beagle puppies at Scottish open shows!!

MORE CONGRATULATIONS GO TO WENDY AND PARKER!

On Saturday 30th May St Andrews, Cupar & DCS open show was held at Errol.

Wendy Kilgour’s 9 month old Gempeni Heartbeat of Kilmorbeag was 1st in AV Hound Puppy judged by Pat Feetham (Kimbleholme). The wait for BPIS was worth it for Parker’s delighted owner as he went on to win RESERVE BEST SPECIAL PUPPY IN SHOW judged by Peter Matfin (Ashlantie).

CONGRATULATIONS TO RACHEL AND NICKY!

Banff, Moray & Nairn CC open show was held at Lhanbryde on Sunday 31st May. Pictured below left is Rachel Cuthill and  Divinebrae Truth Or Dutch who won BEST SPECIAL MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW.

Nicky Stewart followed with Dughallmor Iceman (below right) who was RESERVE BEST SPECIAL PUPPY IN SHOW.

Both were judged by Fiona Findlay (Rhiconich).
