January

SOUTHERN COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB held its very first CHAMPIONSHIP show on Saturday 13th January. The venue was Steventon Village Hall, Abingdon, Oxfordshire and the judge was Serena Parker (Serenaker). There was a super entry of 111 dogs (125 entries) for Serena to judge. The show was lucky that the weather was very kind for the time of year.

BEST IN SHOW and RESERVE BEST IN SHOW went north to Co. Durham. David Craig’s Ch Davricard Gaultier was the DCC and BIS winner. Samantha Goldberg’s Molesend Dormouse was awarded her 3rd and crowning BCC and RBIS (subject to RKC confirmation).

Christine Lewis also had a very good day winning BPB and BEST PUPPY IN SHOW with Fallowfield Raya and the RDCC with Fallowfield Fellman.

The only Scottish exhibitor was Fiona Findlay with her Rhiconich beagles. It was a marathon 455 mile trip from Forfar to Steventon but a worthwhile one as Fiona’s four hounds were all placed and came home with 2 x 3rd, a 2nd and another 1st in LD for Obconica. Very well done!

Congratulations to Colin Christie’s Divinebrae Dom Perignon who has gained the final point required for his Veteran Warrant (subject RKC confirmation). Dudley (pictured left) achieved this at Hamilton Canine Club show on 14th January.

MANCHESTER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW held on 19th January was the first General Championship show of 2024. The judge for beagles was Mr Frank Whyte.

The only SBC member in the top awards was David Craig whose Ch Davricard Gaultier was the DCC winner and Annavah Belinda of Davricard won the RBCC.

Well done to Scottish exhibitors Anne Binks and Wendy Kilgour who were both in the cards. Anne’s Tannahill Dignified was 4th in PD and Tannahill Calissa 1st in PB. Wendy’s Kilcardi Claudia was 3rd in her first PGB class.

Congratulations to Sophia Stuart and Kellitcreed Danger Digits on their lovely win at Annandale CS Limit Show on 27th January, judged by Mrs Caroline Richardson.

“Jazzy” won Hound NSC, Hound Group 1 and finally RESERVE BEST IN SHOW.

February

Another week and another Group 1 success. The proud winner pictured left is Luisa Fallon’s Newlin Rambler (AWS). Boss’ win came at Upperward of Lanarkshire CS open show held on 4th Febrary where the judge was Mrs Eve Hamilton (Findroanch).

The NORTHERN & MIDLAND COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB held their open show on 10th February which was judged by Jocelynne Cyprien.

SBC members in the top awards were Lynda and Pam Havard who went BEST IN SHOW with Dufosee Julianna avec Annavah and took BPD with Annavah Justify, Christine Lewis whose new baby Velenco True Love for Fallowfield was BPB and BEST PUPPY IN SHOW and Jo Norris and Marion Hunt’s Ch Shercroft Apollo JW ShCM who was BVD and BEST VETERAN IN SHOW.

The BEAGLE ASSOCIATION held their open show on 24th February, judged by Robyn Mead. Well done to the SBC members who were in the top awards. It was a day for the girls!

BB and BEST IN SHOW was Sam Goldberg’s Molesend Crumble. Lynda and Pam Havard took BPB and BEST PUPPY IN SHOW with Annavah Teardrop and BVB and BEST VETERAN IN SHOW with Ch Annavah Knick Knack.

Congratulation to Susan Arden’s Candi aka Annavah Star Above Madika who has achieved her Agility Warrant Silver. The final points required were won at Phase Purple Agility show over the weekend of 24th-25th February. Candi is pictured above in action and proudly showing off her new certificate.

March

WEST MERCIA BEAGLE CLUB held their open show on 3rd March. The judge was Rachel Cuthill from Aberdeenshire. Once again SBC members were in the top awards.

Lynda and Pam Havard took a second BB and BEST IN SHOW with Dufosee Julianna avec Annavah, having won the same award at N&MCBC three weeks earlier. The same owners’ Ch Annavah Knick Knack was BVB and BEST VETERAN IN SHOW, repeating her win from the BA show the previous week. Christine Lewis also had a good day, firstly with Fallowfield Fellman who was BD and RBIS followed by a second BEST PUPPY IN SHOW for Velenco True Love for Fallowfield.

Congratulations to all the Scottish and SBC members on their wins and places at CRUFTS 2024, and well done to all the other members who took part. Beagles were judged by Mrs Helen Caple (Morsefield) on Sunday 10th March, the final day of the four day show. Both CC winners, RDCC winner and the best veteran are owned and bred by SBC members.

FOUR COUNTIES BEAGLE CLUB held their open show at Bowburn, Co. Durham on 17th March  where the judge was Nikki Scarlett (Michelroy)

Christine Lewis’ Fallowfield Fellman was BD, Claire JonesClairdale Fusilier was RBD, the Havards’ Annavah Justify was BPD and Marion Hunt and Jo NorrisCh Shercroft Apollo JW ShCM was BVD. In bitches the Havards’ Dufosee Julianna avec Annavah notched up another BB and BEST IN SHOW with Ch Annavah Knick Knack taking RBB and another BEST VETERAN IN SHOW.

The BEAGLE CLUB held their open show on 23rd March at which a lovely entry of 76 beagles making 89 entires awaited judge Mr Kevin Hirst.

Dufosee Julianna avec Annavah was awarded her fourth Breed Club BEST IN SHOW this year for owners Lynda and Pam Havard. The same owners’ Annavah Teardrop was BPBSerena Parker took RBD with Serenaker Saltydog and RBB with his litter sister Serenaker Manhattan, with the latter going on to win RESERVE BEST IN SHOW. Serena ended the day winning BEST VETERAN IN SHOW with Ch Serenaker Elle’s Belles while Christine Lewis won another BEST PUPPY IN SHOW, this time with Fallowfield Romeo.

Congratulations to Susan Arden’s Candi aka Annavah Star Above Madika AW(S) who adds another certificate to her collection. This time it is for passing her KCGC Gold test. A great achievement!

The last day of March and it was a lovely (rare) spring weather day in Inverurie where Luisa Fallon’s “Boss”  enjoyed competing at JACS KC agility show. It was well worth the trip as not only did Boss win his Agility G5 class, he also gained the points required for his Agility Warrant Gold and will now be   Newlin Rambler AW(G). Huge congratulations to Luisa and Boss!
